Should I become an Uber/Lyft driver?

Recently, My parents just help me buy a car, a 2008 mazda 3 hatchback. Sadly, my employment situation is pretty grim at the moment. But I live in San Francisco, and I know that this is probably the most profitable market for uber/lyft drivers. I’ve ridden in lyft cars before where the driver commuted from Sacramento on a friday night because they heard the fares were good in SF.

By now, I’m fully aware that I’m on the hook to pay for my own gas, parking, moving violations. I’ve also had a friend bash lyft because the job was stressing him out, but then he would pay for my meal because he was making up to $250 on some nights.

If I were to be an uber or lyft driver, I want to try to takes fares during the morning commute. I’m 22 and I’m trying to hang on to keep the social life that I had in college.

Yes, just work friday, saturday nights. Drive around polk st, or north beach, I’ve paid $35 for a 2 mile uber ride because of surge pricing during salesforce’s dreamforce conference. Then again we had 7 people and it was raining :/

$35 for 2 miles is pretty bad. the Worst I’ve done is $92 for a 6 mile ride. This was with 6 people, rain, 2am surge pricing, and the driver getting “lost”.

Do it. But the most money you make is when people go out on weekends or if you take airport rides. Thats what my friend says (he drives for Uber).

So if you’re willing to not go out some nights to make money, you should be fine.

I have a buddy who does it. Apparently, Uber changed all their shit up, so you make way more money doing Lyft now.

You make more per ride, but I’d imagine you’d get more fares with Uber.
